Caerphilly Autistic Spectrum Service (CASS)

The Caerphilly Autistic Spectrum Service (CASS) is part of the Resource Centre at Trinity Fields School. The team has been developed to support children and young people (CYP) with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The service provides support and advice for parents, families and school staff working with children and young people (CYP) up to the age of 18 years, who have received a diagnosis of Autism.

Training Available to Families

NAS Early Bird

A 6 week in person training and support programme for parents/carers with a child who have received a
diagnosis of ASD ages 0-6 years. 

 The aim of the NAS Early Bird programme is to help empower parents and supporting professionals to understand more about autism and discuss useful strategies on how to support autistic children. The six-session in person programme covers:

- Understanding autism
- Communication
- Understanding autistic experiences
- Supporting daily living
- Health and wellbeing
- Connections

NAS Early Bird Plus

A 6 week in person training and support programme for parents/carers with a child who has received a diagnosis of ASD ages 5-10 years.

 The aim of the NAS Early Bird programme is to help empower parents and supporting professionals to understand more about autism and discuss useful strategies on how to support autistic children. The six-session in person programme covers:

- Understanding autism
- Communication
- Understanding autistic experiences
- Supporting daily living
- Health and wellbeing
- Connections


 

NAS Teen Life Programme

A 6 week in person programme for parents/carers of young people aged 10-16 years. The aim of the Teen Life programme is to bring parents together to share information, experiences, and ideas in a structed way. The programme covers:

- Understanding autism
- Understanding autistic identity
- Stress and anxiety/understanding behaviour
- Health and wellbeing
- Puberty
- Education/planning for the future.

Barnardo’s Cygnet 4th Edition

A 6 week online support programme for parents and carers of children with an Autism diagnosis. The aim of this programme is to increase parents and carers understanding of Autism and give them practical strategies they can use with their child. These sessions cover:

- Parent and carer experiences and autism overview
- Thinking and sensory
Social interaction and communication
- Understanding and supporting behaviour
- Analysing Behaviour
